Parish Records For Medway Print E-mail
Sunday, 10 April 2011 00:00
Whilst the majority of my research concentrates on Scottish Ancestry, as a race we did somewhat have ‘itchy feet’ & tended to cross the globe, whether we wanted to or not! However, whilst a number of the records are available online, the english archives have often proven to be difficult to trace, especially when they only give the registration district and quarter that the event occurred.

If you needed the actual date etc, you needed to purchase the actual certificate from the National Archives at £9.25 per certificate.

Can work out very expensive when dealing with ‘cross border’ events!

However, I came across an excellent project the other day regarding the Medway Towns, where the parish records are freely available. Check out the following link http://cityark.medway.gov.uk

Scottish Census 1911 Print E-mail
Thursday, 24 March 2011 00:00
I thought I would make my first comment on the Scottish Census for 1911 to be released on 05 April 2011.

For the first time this census will include details of all children of a marriage and the numbers still alive at the time of the Census. Hopefully it will ensure that all children of the marriage, irrespective of whether they died between previous census’ returns are traced to ensure a complete genealogical picture of our ancestors.

The Scottish Government website (www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk) is excellent, although can be expensive, when searching for a number of individuals. Copies of these returns can be obtained at approximately 1/3rd of the price by visiting Register House in Edinburgh. In addition it is possible to bring complete branches of a family tree upto the present date, with the records available. Commissioning research can prove to be less expensive, especially when instead of speading credits on unnecessary searches, you only pay for the correct certificates/returns obtained at Register House, which can then be scanned & emailed direct to you, together with a complete family tree.

As someone that believes that this research is indeed very personal, it is important to engage someone that will take the time & effort to ensure that the information extracted in relevant to you. Feel free to contact me by clicking here.
