Client Testimonials

Wow, that is impressive, Keith! If you have this much information on every family branch I will be delighted
(M C, England)

Thank you so much for all of this information, I never realised that I had so many living relations in Scotland. I have managed to make contact with one of them and am hoping to meet up with them later this year.  My sister is intrigued that she could be married to someone for over forty years and be close to all of his family and not know any of this
(M A, Vancouver)

A really big thank you for all your efforts in tracing my Scottish Ancestry. The professional, but personal way you conducted this research, was excellent and I now consider you to be a very good friend.(S S, Canberra)

Costs Print E-mail
Charges are based on the time spent on research and include fees that I must pay to the Registrar General for access to these records. Whilst the Scottish Government website is excellent, it is expensive, especially when you are charged irrespective of whether the record you are looking at is in fact your ancestor. In addition, the charges have been increased substantially now that the 1911 Census has become available.

It is difficult to estimate in advance the amount of time needed for any piece of genealogical research, e.g. it often takes longer tracing a family with a common name living in a large city.

My hourly rate is £15 if you decide you wish to engage my services to research your family history. No payment needs to paid straightaway, instead email me and let me know what research you would like me to undertake. If I can help I would ask that an initial payment of one hours work is paid before commencing the research.

You can then decide if you want to commission further research up to a maximum cost that suits your budget. This amount will not be exceeded without your approval. You will only be charged for the actual work done and if nothing can be traced a refund will be made. For your guidance, the average cost of tracing one ancestral line as far back as possible is between £50 and £150.

I would suggest that you opt for delivery of the results by email initially and once you have viewed them, let me know if you wish hard copies posted to you.  Post and packing costs will be advised to you by email.
